Welcome to my portfolio! This website contains my proudest creations as a costumer, crafter, and artist, spanning a variety of both personal and collaborative projects. Feel free to take a look around!

About Me

My name is Alexandra Beilin (I also go by Alex). I am a 2024 Dean's List graduate of Capilano University's Costuming for Stage and Screen diploma program, which helped me turn my lifelong passion for costumes into many skills, like flat-pattern drafting, garment breakdown, fine sewing, and textile surface design.

My portfolio at a glance!

Film Costume

Film productions I have had the opportunity to contribute to as a costumer, bringing characters to life on screen through their clothing. I have always been intrigued by the filmmaking process, and I find the fast-paced, complex, and collaborative environment to be both challenging and fun.

Theatre Costume

My experience as a costumer for both musical and straight play stage productions. As a lifelong theatre kid, I am incredibly passionate in this art form, and I love its potential for elaborate and interesting costumes.

Garment Builds

Projects I have designed and built for myself, others, and historical research purposes. Beyond costuming, I love to express myself and showcase my design abilities through my clothing; I have built nearly my entire wardrobe. My designs are frequently inspired by nature, fantasy, and historical fashion.

Illustration

Designs, sketches, and some paintings I have created over the years. I generally like to use a combination of coloured pencils and markers for my designs, but I have been experimenting more with watercolour to better communicate different kinds of fabrics and textures. I am planning to start exploring digital art further to broaden my options.

Jewelry

A variety of necklaces, earrings, and some other accessories using techniques like wire-wrapping, chainwork, and even some leatherwork. With jewelry, especially wire-wrapping, its structural integrity is a large consideration in the design and construction, which is a challenge that can yield beautiful results.

Miscellaneous Works

An assortment of other crafts I have dabbled in. Over time I have experimented with many new techniques, and even if I don't frequently create projects with them, it's still very valuable to me to have learned something.
